Volunteer process


Kitchen volunteers assist in meal preparation by peeling, chopping, mixing and whatever else may be needed for that day’s meal. Kitchen duties are led by our seasoned volunteers and also include packaging the meal courses into single serving containers for distribution.

WHEN: 10:30am-1pm, second Saturday of each month

Clothing and Toiletries

As a volunteer you will help sort through clothing and toiletry donations and choose appropriate items for distribution that day under the leadership of our clothing strategic volunteers. We sort clothing by size and have categories for men, women and children, We also sort and create toiletry packs for distribution. Volunteers also create greeting cards and write notes of encouragement to include in the packages.

Distribution volunteers meet at a designated spot near downtown Chicago and find folks in need. The meals and donations prepared earlier in the day are distributed as we get to know our brothers and sisters who are experiencing homelessness and scarcity. Volunteer drivers are also needed each month to transport items between preparation and distribution.
